Too many veterans and first responders lose their team, their mission, their structure—and the belief that they still matter. Shield Maiden Racing exists to give those things back.
Racing is just how we get you in the door. Coming back is the whole point.
Meet Melissa “Rowdie” McMahon
She didn’t lose the uniform. She lost the team.
Melissa “Rowdie” McMahon went to Afghanistan as a nurse, caring for others while rockets fell around her. But the hardest part of her story began after she came home. The uniform came off, the mission ended, and the people who had become her family were suddenly gone.
Slowly, Rowdie began disappearing from her own life—until an unexpected day behind the wheel of a race car reminded her what it felt like to have somewhere to belong again.
One Saturday became another. Strangers became teammates. And the woman who once needed a team to find her way back now spends her life building one for veterans and first responders who are still searching for theirs.

Rowdie’s racing with Twisted Sisters Motorsports. We’ll be in the paddock all weekend. Come find us, look at the car, pull up a chair. No RSVP, no ticket needed from us, nothing you have to say when you get there.

You might not know exactly what you’d do with us. But we know you’d be welcome. You don’t need a résumé, racing experience, or a polished explanation for why you came.
